The Small Things Fund is a relational crowdfunding initiative for first generation tertiary education students in South Africa. We offer first line support for the small things that aid academic success. First generation students, especially those from resource-constrained communities, strive against the odds to make it to graduation.
As with every sector in every university community across the globe, the academic years since COVID19 hit South Africa in 2020, have been years of recovery. The pandemic affected every single student. Several years later, students face other challenges too – some of them have been exacerbated since the pandemic. For first generation students, those effects have been that much more intense.
We thank every donor and every supporter for their commitment and partnership. We look forward to having you continue the journey with us as we stay sensitive to the needs of students in our environments.
As an organisation, we salute every first generation student who has come through the last academic year. For those who are able to continue to graduation, it remains our privilege to come alongside them for some of the way.
